from 42 reviewsThe action on this lure is unreal. Three times now it has our performed other lures while stick baiting king fish. They cast well have a good action. Looking forward to using it on tuna and Spanish off the rocks. 10/10
Cannot seem to keep the kings away from this lure, casts great, tough as nails and swims exactly how it should. Now just need to actually land one...
This lure performs incredibly well for what might not look as flashy or hyper-realistic as some of the sinking stickbaits on the market today.
The action is second to none, very responsive and notable “kick” under a straight wind. Sweep and pause is easy to get action also.
Tough as nails when spinning off the stones, which is always important in that rough terrain.
Have enticed XL kingfish with this lure on the north coast when nothing else got them interested.
A lure that I would confidently throw at any large pelagic, shore based or boat based!
This is the lure I start 90% of my casting sessions with.
This lure's main asset in my opinion is the cast distance you'll get out of it, it goes forever. It also works in all conditions and settings (rock-based to off-shore, in Australia and overseas).
Finally, it attracts both hungry aggressive fish and due to it's slender body, it'll also draws-in shyer fish, maximising your range given the conditions.
Very first cast of this lure produced a nice school mackie. Long casting and neutral in the air, no tangling issues on the drop, vetsatile and retrieves well using a variety of styles including walk the dog, fast rips, top water like a pencil popper. A green / orange colour in the smaller version would go great when chasing trout on shallow coral bommies too. Highly recommended 👌
The Dirty Ice Bottle Rocket 155 is already one of my most favourite lures, attracting bites during beach surf casting sessions when my other regular lures weren't being hit and landing plenty of fish of all sizes, including several of the largest from my most recent trip.
Fishing land based from WA cliffs demands a lure that casts a mile, can withstand bashing into rocks and has excellent action. I was thoroughly impressed by this lure. The Mack Nuggets smaller annd denser profile alows it to outcast a Mackbait and Halco Max, and doesn’t break like the others when it hits rocks. The Mack Nugget must have a flutter action on the drop, because I hooked more fish on the drop than any other lure, including big Spanish as well as demersals. It is the only lure I’ve come across that swims all the way to your feet without pulling out of the water when fishing from a 10m cliff. This will be my go to lure going forward. Recycled and made in Aus is the cream on top
I've used every bibless minnow there has ever been for sale in Australia over the last 30 years. Not only cliff fishing but also trolling, and the mack nugget exceeds expectation.
On a recent trip to exmouth the mack nugget was hit over the other bibless minnows we where trolling.
Excellent lure, great price, recycled material and Australian made.....what else could you ask for?
Excellent lures !! Fished the same 195 bottle rock for a full week off the rocks and can safely say these things are solid and skip along the surface imitating a fleeing garfish too perfection. Unfortunately I didn’t land any fish with this lure this trip but I have no doubt that this lure will catch some serious fish in future trips.
These lures cast extremely well and can tell that there has been alot of thought and testing in the weight distribution.
An important feature for any LBG fisho is that a lure can withstand the impacts from having to bang the lure into the rocks to safely retrieve the lure for certain ledges and when the seas are big. The lures recycled HDPE material has great durability and does not damage easy. The through plate design feature gives you a lot of confidence that no matter how many times it’s bangs on the rocks that it will still be solid for when you hook that monster. Similar lures in the industry generally use a through wire which is typically light and gets damaged and bent quickly when hitting the rocks. Bending the wire back into position always worries me as everytime you do this the wire gets weaker and I have seen it fatigue and snap in the past . When you are putting those long hours to find those dream fish you want to have the confidence that you have limited any possible weak points.
Overall very impressed with this product. Top quality !!!
Super engaging style of fishing. I love watching the lure, at any second there could be a flash and a boil and running drag. They’re really tough when bashing against the rocks. The plug style lure has been popular for years, but these being made of recycled plastic ticks every box for me.
I can't believe how good these things look skimming across the water! They look more like a fleeing gar or flying fish than the real thing lol. Extremely well made and cast like a bullet. Tested the 155 on a solid Queenie with great success, it got chased down and crunched HARD.
Not only are they a brilliant design, they are made from recycled plastics, can't ask for much more. Wicked.
I've used the GTIcreams for a few seasons now, so seeing a similar style of plug with new colours from a small business doing it differently definitely caught my interest.
The ecofriendly packaging, recycled plastic, on shore manufacturing (Aus) and high level of engagement across socials and throughout sales process were all big positives - but how would they compare to the reliable Icecream?
There's nothing groundbreaking in the design, it's tried and tested and it works well. The weight distribution is a little more even, so it's not as tail sloppy as the GT and allows for some slightly different retrieves at slower speeds. There is a slight cost to aerodynamics and cast distance but it's minor, if not negligible, given slim profile and still rear weight biased. The action on these styles of plugs is 'fleeing baitfish' so they are best suited to top water applications.
The build quality is superb. Material composition is superior to the GTIcrecreams, more forgiving on the rocks and less likely to shatter as its slightly softer. The front eye is bulky and could do with some refinement but once the split ring is on, it's staying on.
Colour options are what really set this product apart from the Icecream - absolutely loving it. The black and gold is a thing of beauty but I had a play with the pilchard and fusi/hybrid misfit on first test. Looking forward to getting my hands on some white/cream models to target the tuna species in season and hoping for more innovation from in the Bottle Rockets.
I have only fished with these for one session but so far overall impressions are good. It casts a mile, holds the water well and has survived numerous encounters with the barnacles.
